Who it's for
Designed to complement treatment, not replace it. It's there in the hours between appointments, when cravings and hard moments often happen.
Rehabs & AOD services
Offer clients a consistent, values-aligned support tool they can use between sessions, after discharge, or while waiting for a place.
Counsellors & clinicians
Reinforce the skills you teach, like urge surfing, HALT checks, coping plans and SMART goals, with an AI recovery companion that uses the same language.
Clients & families
A private, judgement-free space to talk through cravings, slips, goals, faith and hope — plus practical nearby help when food or shelter is the need.
Key features
Everything runs in the browser on desktop or mobile, with nothing to install.
Craving & slip support
Guided urge surfing, HALT checks, TIPP and other DBT/CBT skills practised step-by-step in chat. A slip is something to learn from, not a failure.
Goals & cut-down plans
Helps people set small SMART goals, whether that's abstinence, cutting down or safer use, and review them kindly.
Clean time, check-in & gratitude
Track clean days with milestones, a quick mood and craving check-in, and an optional morning gratitude prompt.
Journal & deepen reflection
Private journal entries, with an optional AI deepen-reflection that keeps your voice and names emotions gently.
12 Steps, SOAP & Diving Deeper Finding Jesus (WEB)
A faith-based 12-step outline, daily SOAP, and Diving Deeper Finding Jesus — a whole-Bible plan with Going Deeper cross-refs and warm Hope connections. Scripture in-app is the public-domain World English Bible.
Find nearby help
Opt-in links to Ask Izzy for free meals, shelter, showers and practical support — location only if you choose.
Find a church
Official Australian denominational finders and maps — Hopewick doesn’t host a church list. Soft-hidden if you choose no faith content.
Find a meeting
Opens official Australian AA, NA and SMART Recovery finders (plus Celebrate Recovery locations) — Hopewick doesn’t host meeting lists.
Find treatment / rehab
Official Australian AOD helplines and state service finders — Hopewick links out so contacts stay current.
Find AOD services
Curated QLD-first community NGOs (QuIHN, Drug ARM and more) with plain chips for what each can offer — Visit site / Call. Different from the treatment finders.
Nutrition & recovery
Food-first tips after alcohol, stimulants or a big night — education only, with clear medical safety messages.
Faith-inclusive
Choose general spirituality, a specific tradition, or no faith content at all, and how much faith is woven in.
Remembers what matters
Keeps track of goals, triggers, supports and what helps, so conversations build over time. People can view, edit or delete every memory.
Shared-device profiles
Separate private profiles for each person on a device, with an optional PIN lock.
Voice
Talk instead of type, hear replies read aloud, or use hands-free conversation mode where the browser supports it.
Help always one tap away
A permanent "Get help now" button and an automatic crisis card with verified Australian hotlines.
Accessible & calm
Keyboard and screen-reader friendly, light and dark modes, reduced-motion support, and a calm garden-green design.
Between sessions, aligned with care
Your service stays in charge of care; Hopewick fills the quiet hours when people are on their own. Hope echoes approaches used in Australian AOD work so clients hear consistent messages — it is not a clinical decision-making tool.
- Motivational interviewing: open questions, affirmations, reflections and summaries. It works with ambivalence and follows the stages of change.
- Harm reduction: meets people where they are. Abstinence, cutting down and safer use all count.
- Relapse prevention: triggers and high-risk situations, HALT, urge surfing, coping plans and support networks.
- CBT-style skills: gently noticing and reframing unhelpful thoughts, and planning alternatives.
- Strengths-based, trauma-informed, culturally safe: person-first, non-stigmatising language, with choice and control.
Designed to point back to your service
Hopewick regularly encourages people to stay connected with their GP, counsellor, AOD service, faith community and peer groups such as SMART Recovery, AA/NA or Celebrate Recovery. It's a bridge between sessions, not a substitute for them.
Safety first
If someone mentions suicide or self-harm, overdose, about to use / extreme craving, domestic or family violence, being unsafe, or someone else in danger, a crisis card appears straight away with what to do in this moment and Australian call buttons. This works even without an internet connection to the AI. Hope is also instructed to give these contacts first.

Privacy: how it works today
We'd rather be plain about this than overpromise.
Stays on the device
Chats, memories, check-ins and settings are stored only in the browser on the device being used. There are no accounts and no server of ours holding conversations.
Demo sends nothing
The public demo uses pre-written examples only — nothing you type is sent to an AI provider. When hosted accounts open, replies will use our managed service instead of asking visitors for keys.
Service-ready hosting ROADMAP
A hosted version for services, with Australian data storage and managed access, is on the roadmap. It isn't available yet.
Profile PINs are a light privacy lock for shared devices, not strong security. Anyone with access to the browser's storage could still read the data. People can export or delete their own data at any time.
Advanced (in the app): optional own OpenAI-compatible API key for device testing — tucked under Settings → Advanced, not the main path.
Faith-inclusive by design
For many people, faith is a real source of strength in recovery. For others it isn't. Each person chooses what feels right:
- Faith can come up only when asked, be gently woven in, or be central.
- Never preachy or shaming, and never treats addiction or relapse as a moral failing.
- Paraphrases sacred texts, and says so, rather than risk misquoting them.
- For Indigenous spirituality, it respects culture without appropriating it and defers to Elders, community and 13YARN.
